Aspire Sports and Cultural Trust is governed by a Board of up to eleven Trustees who give strategic guidance and support to the Trust’s Management Team, which is led by the Chief Executive.

The Trustees are all representatives of the local community and bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the organisation with representatives from health, education, business, community organisations, the voluntary sector and Gloucester City Council.

Andrew lives in Gloucester and has been a trustee of Aspire since its founding.  He trained as a physicist at UEA and Liverpool University and worked in ICT for 25 years in both the private and public sectors, latterly for local government.  He took early retirement in 2006. Andrew has a first class degree and an MBA.

Andrew is a keen follower of football usually from an armchair but occasionally from the touchline on Sunday mornings in Plock Court.  He leant to play tennis at Oxstalls Sports Park and regularly plays there socially and competitively in the lower leagues.  He maintains his interest in scientific and technological developments following closely the discovery of the Higgs boson at CERN

Retired Director of a medium-sized locally-based caravan retailer.

Gloucester City Councillor from 1998-2011and from 2004-2011 Cabinet Member responsible for the City’s Heritage and Leisure portfolio, devolving management of Gloucester City Leisure Services to Aspire from the City Council in 2008.

I have a very strong interest in Gloucester’s history and Heritage and a member of the Gloucester Regeneration Advisory Board. I am a member of the Council of Management of Gloucester Civic Trust and Chairman of Gloucester Historic Buildings Ltd., a joint venture of Gloucester City Council and Gloucester Civic Trust.

Trustee of other charities including Gloucester Charities Trust, of which I am currently Chairman until January 2016, Gloucester Athletics Track Management Ltd, Llanthony Secunda Priory Trust. An active member of Gloucester Rotary Club, Chairman of its Trust Fund for Young People and lead organiser of the Club’s annual Tree of Light in conjunction with Gloucester City Council.

Neil Cameron

Neil was appointed as a Trustee in 2016. He has extensive experience of sport as a participant, administrator and official. He served for 5 years as Secretary of Scotland’s National Governing Body (NGB) for badminton, and was a Council member of the International Badminton Federation (IBF) from 1983 to 1996, being a Vice President for his last 8 years. He refereed many top level international badminton events, including several World Championships and at two Olympic Games. He was IBF Chief Executive for 5 years from 1998 to 2003.

Neil was also chair of the British Orienteering NGB for 4 years, is a Trustee of another local Charity (Active Gloucestershire) and was its Chair for several years.

Having worked in the computer industry for 25 years in technical marketing and having held various management positions, Neil believes his analytic skills, management and sporting experience can assist Aspire to meet its objectives.

Neil is a keen sporting participant of orienteering, table tennis, road running and swimming.
